Quality Management

The "How Good?" Aspect of Your Deliverable

Quality Management is the process of:

  1. Defining and documenting exactly “how good” your delivered scope  (i.e., your end product) needs to be. This is known as defining the product’s Quality Requirements.
  2. Making sure the appropriate processes  and plans are in place to assure that this quality will be built into the product. This is known as Quality Assurance, or QA.
  3. Measuring and reporting how good the actual delivered product and it’s components are after they’re built. This is known as Quality Control, or QC.

Quality Management is closely related to Scope Management. A key tool used in managing both is the classic systems engineering V-diagram.
